The Madora Bay

, , ,

No matter where you look in this beautiful pool design, there is a feature element that will take your breath away.

Our client incorporated this stunning, fully tiled infinity edge pool and spa combination to complement their new home build in Madora Bay. Working closely with architect Iliadis Architects and landscaper Mondo Landscapes, we constructed a bespoke pool that would be functional for our client to use throughout the year, whilst maintaining its stance as a stand out feature in their uniquely designed home.

The pool has been constructed above ground with a radial infinity edge, enabling the water to cascade over the spillover to amazing effect. The trough, with feature lighting and a steel grate floor, holds hundreds of river stones which have been carefully placed to create a natural yet contemporary look, complementing the sleek pool interior finish. The colour palette for the pool and spa was carefully chosen to continue the theme used throughout the home and landscaping. The pool and spa interior tiles create a shimmering effect and when lit up give the illusion that the water is dancing across the pool. The tiles installed to the spillover face incorporate those used throughout the pool, as well as a darker mosaic, which highlights the aesthetic feature and creates a beautiful focal point that can be seen from the living areas of the residence.

Four custom designed water features were created and installed to the high rise planter wall along the pool length. They have been designed in such a way to have the water cascade in a film, which is again an aesthetically stunning visual in the pool zone.

With its unique design, interesting contours and lines, and palette of materials that perfectly complements the property, this geometric pool project flawlessly fits our client’s brief for a pool with high aesthetic appeal. Design by Blake Willis Architects and constructed by Pools by Design, this pool is not only aesthetically stunning, but functional for our client’s family.

The use of contours give this pool an art-deco feel with a modern twist, a fully-mosaiced infinity edge wall which not only curves, but continues out on a forward angle down to the trough base. A second spillover face allows water to cascade into a steel drainage system which then flows back into the main pool. The installation of natural stone throughout the pool zone, concourse and steps seamlessly integrate the pool with the surrounding landscape, the stunning mosaics and stone work with its unique shadow line detail give the pool the dramatic look and WOW factor the client desired.

This pool represents a unique approach to residential pool construction- its bespoke design, creative use of finishes and high attention to detail have produced an enviable aquatic masterpiece.

Our client wanted to create a pool zone that reflects the flow of their existing home. An out of ground concrete geometric pool was designed and constructed to alleviate the need for extensive fencing and to create a visual impact. A boardwalk was constructed to extend the existing decking to the pool zone, providing a space for our clients to sit and relax on an inviting sun deck overlooking their stunning pool.

The 3m x 7m geometric pool ranges in depth from 1.2m – 1.8m, allowing the family to maintain their active lifestyle, benching to one end of the pool beckons you to enjoy summer evenings sitting back and cooling off. A large capacity heat pump ensures idyllic temperate water for extended use.

To mirror the property’s colour palate, a white mosaic for the waterline & empire blue granite headers were installed. These enhance the sandy beach quartz plaster interior, the pool exterior walls were waterproofed, rendered and texture coated to integrate the pool palette with the existing residence home.

The Claremont

As part of extensive home renovations, we designed a geometric pool that would be a focal point and viewed from multiple areas within the home, whilst still integrating seamlessly with our client’s contemporary style.

A feature wall was constructed with a 1200mm water-blade creating a stunning feature deliberately centered to the family room window. 18sqms of individual natural stone cladding was meticulously applied to the feature wall which are in stark contrast to the black lappato 600x300mm waterline tile.

With a deep end exceeding 2.15m, the pool is the perfect fit for this client’s energetic family, allowing for long summer days spent jumping in and cooling off. A large capacity heat pump provides warm water for an extended season whilst an in-ground blanket box conceals the pool cover within an expanse of decorative honed aggregate.

The Wembley Downs

Taking inspiration from the resort pools of Indonesia, our client brief was for a pool that allowed both recreational swimming and relaxing.

A Baja ledge was constructed as part of a swim-out from the main pool which serves not only as a stepping point into the pool, but a place for the client to sit back and relax, taking in the enviable Western Australia climate. Extensive benching across the length of the pool adds to the resort feel.

The geometric pool mirrors the defined angles used throughout the garden. To soften the lines, decking has been brought right up to the pool edge giving the area the feel of a spa retreat.

Natural hues were employed throughout the landscape works, whilst the Pool Blue quartz plaster and large format white tiles enhance the scene and up-lit foliage that surround the pool complete the picture to full effect.

The Coogee

Our client’s brief was to create a lap pool that was suitable for both exercise and recreational swimming. The pool was constructed prior to the house build, allowing for the pool to be directly underneath and wrap around the alfresco, increasing the overall pool size and creating a stunning pool with limited space available.

The pool has been created with intriguing angles, creating swim outs for recreational swimming, whilst retaining is main function as a lap pool. Central to the alfresco, a wader was constructed to allow the clients young family to play and bask in the summer sun. From the alfresco out client and their family can look over to the water blade feature, a central focal point of the pool zone. Elegant seating areas and a cabana were constructed in distinct zones of the pool area, utilising what would otherwise be unused space.

Large format mosaic tiles were used for the waterline, giving a different depth of colour to traditional mosaics. Solar Heating ensures the pool is available for an extended swim season, meaning the client can maintain their active lifestyle from Spring to Autumn. Frameless glass fencing provides security and peace of mind to the client’s family whilst not detracting from the pool and feature.

The Swanbourne II

This geometric pool was constructed to cater for our client’s young family. We constructed a 1.9m baja shelf and wading area adjacent to the main pool, this allows for our clients younger children to make the most of the pool as well as the adults basking in the sun in the shallower depths.

Mosaic tiling across the spillover weir creates a striking visual feature and the large format black tiles add an heir of luxury to the baja shelf.

The client brief for this design and construct project was to be ‘wowed’. Transforming the dated existing swimming pool into a 16m lap pool with swim out required extensive engineering solutions and significant stabilisation of the boundary retaining walls.

Feature LED lighting around the property highlight the pool as the main feature of the landscape, whilst frameless glass fencing ensures the pool zone blends seamlessly with the residence.
A large plant room stores all of the pool equipment behind a large feature wall with a cleverly concealed “Alice” door located within the cladding.

Alongside creating a pool which exceeded the client’s expectations, we also designed and constructed the surrounding landscape elements. This included feature decking, paving, benching, planters, balustrading as well as the installation of synthetic grass on a raised terrace seating area.
